No. 62 Sorø Stolefabrik Teak Dining Table with Leaves by Henning Kjærnulf - SOLD

December 3, 2016

Designed in 1962, this beautiful round-to-oval table was made in Denmark by Sorø Stolefabrik. The leg detail is wonderful. It's an extremely well-made piece, with substantial solid teak legs and a massive solid teak apron. It was designed for use with up to four leaves, and features an ingenious automatic kick-stand system to support the leaves when so many are used (kickstand not needed for one or two leaves.) Other signs of quality are the fully-skirted leaves and wonderful small details such as impressed numbers to match legs to openings. It is a very well-made table!

(Chairs not included.)

This table was professionally refinished with polyurethane at Teak Imports in Massachusetts by the original owner. The tabletop is now suitable for heavy family use. The leaves were not refinished and have their original patina and oiled finish.

The refinished top has only minor scratches. The leaves have a few scratches and corner chips as shown in the photos.

Round:
49.25" diameter x 28.875" high

With one leaf:
69" x 49.25"

With two leaves:
88.75" x 49.25"

(Two additional homemade narrow leaves -7.675" wide- are included but do not match well...)

Classic 1960s Danish Teak Extension Table, Smaller Size - SOLD

October 27, 2016

ON HOLD-

A beautiful vintage Danish teak refectory table. In typical ingenious Danish fashion, the leaves are self-storing, so you never have to worry about them getting lost or damaged. This table is c. 1960s and very nicely made, with beautiful, softly curved edges (not a strict rectangle) and handsome turned legs. You can pull out one or both leaves to extend the table as needed: it is a very practical and dynamic mid-century design. (Chairs not included but available separately.)

In good vintage condition with typical minor wear and bruises. There are a few light surface scratches and very small dings; a couple of areas of slight discoloration; small area of old water damage with very slightly raised veneer which can only be seen when the light is very low and angled (I tried to photograph it but you really can't see see it...) One leg has small dings from a chair hitting it.

48.25" x 32.675" x 28.375" high
With both leaves extended it is 84.25" long

Outstanding Knoll Saarinen Dining Set - SOLD

October 14, 2016

One of the most iconic designs in American furniture, designed by Eero Saarinen and produced by Knoll. In a 1956 Time magazine cover story, Eero Saarinen said that “the underside of typical tables and chairs makes a confusing, unrestful world” and he was designing a new collection to “clear up the slum of legs in the U.S. home.” Later that year, he completed his Pedestal Table, whose form was inspired by a drop of high-viscosity liquid.

This set, tulip table and six swivel chairs, was produced post 1969 (when Knoll became "Knoll International") and is in very good vintage condition with age-appropriate signs of use. Overall it presents very well: bright and glossy and clean. The white laminate tabletop is very clean with a very tiny chip on the surface (see photos) and minor dings/cracking along the edge. The table base is glossy with very light scratches and a couple of tiny worn areas along bottom edge. The chairs have small nicks/scratches/flaws as shown, but overall present very well! The original grey cushions are comfortable and have been professionally cleaned. Some light staining remains visible.

Table: 47.375" diameter x 28.675" high
Chairs:
 32"H x 20"W x 20.5"D x Seat H: 18.75"

This gorgeously figured rosewood (palisander) coffee table was designed in the 1950s by Johannes Andersen for CFC Silkeborg. It has beautiful, elegantly tapered and beveled legs and a beveled edge detail.

The beveled edge has areas of veneer loss on the top bevel, which are not terribly noticeable on first glance due to the highly figured rosewood grain pattern, but definitely there. It is otherwise in very good vintage condition with only a few light scratches and dings. Priced accordingly.

Danish Teak Dining Table with Two Leaves - SOLD

June 4, 2016

This exquisite solid oval teak and rosewood dining table by Dyrlund is incredibly solid and well-made, designed to last for generations. The table has stunning rosewood inlay detail on the edges and around the entire diameter of the edges.

There are two leaves with a wonderful brass peg-and-inset locking system that store inside the table for added convenience and protection. Beautiful teak grain!

Without the leaves, this table seats 6 comfortably. Each leaf adds 19.675", so with one it seats 8 and with both it seats 10, or probably even 12 a bit more cozily!

This table normally sells for $1,400-$2,500 in good condition. This piece is truly excellent vintage condition EXCEPT that the previous owner's dog chewed the end of one table leg. The chew marks have been filled and sanded, but the repair is visible. For that reason, this piece has a much reduced price. With chairs around the table, you may rarely notice the defect.

Outstanding Lane 'Acclaim' Dining Table with Leaves - SOLD

February 19, 2016

We are very lucky to have a rare dining suite from the highly collectible 'Acclaim' series by Lane Furniture, Alta Vista, Virginia. Designed in the late 1950s by Andre Bus, this series -in glowing walnut with the signature contrasting ash/oak decorative dovetail- captured the hearts of mid century Americans, and it is easy to see why.

This table, model no. 301-52, is in exceptionally fine condition and has been very well cared for. Unlike many Acclaim pieces which have been sanded down and varnished, this piece is in truly excellent original condition. The choice of walnut veneer on the tabletop is fantastic, with gorgeous grain and a light-reflecting "flame" pattern. The tabletop has a lovely tapered "surfboard" shape and fine details including an oak-capped walnut apron. It's really stunning in person!

The table includes three leaves as well as the original fitted table pads. Manufacture date 1962.

Without leaves, the table measures 62" x 38" x 29" high.
Each leaf adds about 12" for a maximum length of 98" - seating 10- great for large gatherings!

We also have a matching set of 8 chairs and a matching sideboard/credenza.

Condition is excellent vintage, with only the most minor signs of age and use. One leg is very slightly bowed (original to the wood) barely noticeable and does not affect the table in any way. As is typical on vintage pieces, the leaves are slightly darker than the tabletop, since they were stored and not exposed to sunlight. The original table pads are in poor but serviceable condition if covered by a tablecloth.

Fine Refinished Danish Teak Table by H. Sigh; Round to LARGE Oval! - SOLD

November 22, 2015

This is an elegant, beautifully crafted circular table by H. Sigh and Son, Denmark. It has two leaves and extends to accommodate a large party. Sigh & Son are known for their fine craftsmanship and produced some of renowned designer Arne Vodder's work. Designer of this table is unknown. Beautiful leg detail!

49" diameter x 28.5" high
With one leaf: 73" long
With two leaves: 96.75" long

The previous owner had this table stripped and professionally refinished in long-wearing satin polyurethane, so there will be no worries about kids or guests leaving water rings on the teak. Since it was stripped, the teak is a lighter color than typical pieces of this vintage. (Teak should darken with time and light exposure.) It is in excellent vintage condition with the following to note: one very light scratch on top; a few small areas of veneer loss on the apron and on one leaf.
