Fine Danish Teak Round Table - Expands to seat a crowd! - SOLD

September 8, 2015

This is a very finely made, early Danish teak dining table, possibly designed by Kai Kristiansen. This is an unusual design, since these were not exported to the US: this early 1960s piece was recently purchased in Denmark and brought over this summer.

Notice how beautifully made it is, with wide, curved laminated apron and carved teak brackets holding the leaves. it has a beautiful butterfly mechanism wherein the two leaves are stored within the table and flip up to meet with the half-round sides with brass pins. The study legs have an elegant carved detail.

This table presents very well for its age, and has the usual signs of wear consistent with age and use. These include an area of veneer damage to the edge, assorted nicks and scratches to the table top and edge, some small veneer chips in the apron. All in all, an excellent Danish table!

(Chairs shown are not included.) We have several sets of fantastic Danish chairs which would look great with this table!

Without leaves: 48.5" diameter x 28.75" high
With one leaf: 62.25"
With both leaves: 76.75"
Clearance under apron: 25"

Broyhill Brasilia Dining Set with New KNOLL Upholstery - SOLD

September 7, 2015

Broyhill's Brasilia Collection is so iconic and beautiful! The design team was inspired by the utopian buildings in the capital of Brazil, designed by famed architect Oscar Niemeyer. Broyhill's designers worked for two years with Oscar Niemeyer and presented the copyrighted collection in 1962 with his approval. Notice how gorgeously thin and elegant the sculpted legs are... This is some very cool furniture!

This dining set expands to seat 10 people easily, with three leaves. The leaves were found in their original shipping box, and had NEVER been opened or used by the previous, sole owner of this set. You can add 1, 2 or 3 leaves to accommodate your guests.

The six chairs (5 side chairs and one captain's chair) have just been reupholstered with new foam and Knoll's fabulous Classic Boucle (http://www.knoll.com/knolltextileproductdetail/Classic+Boucle) Their frames are in good vintage condition with some finish wear.

The table top had previously been refinished in polyurethane and we have stripped it and refinished in a more authentic, satin rubbed finish. (It is slightly lighter in color than the three leaves, which were in their box and did not see the sun for 50 years!) It is in excellent condition and ready to be enjoyed by your family for many more decades!

Table= 40.125"w x 66.25"l x 29.75" high
With one leaf= 78.125"
With 2 leaves= 90.125"
With 3 leaves= 102.25" (!!!)
Side chairs= 20.5" w x 20.75" d x 37" high; seat height ~19"
Captain's chair= 22.5 x 22.75" x 37"

Amazing 1960s Danish Table with Tiger Flamed Walnut Legs! - SOLD

September 4, 2015

Crafted by Skovmand & Andersen and imported by the high-end Danish importer Moreddi in California in the 1950s or 1960s. Although the form is the iconic and classic Danish teak refectory table, the materials in this beautifully-madetable really set it apart! It is crafted of walnut with amazing flamed or tiger walnut legs and a beautifully figured walnut top. It is simply beautiful in person.

51.875" x 33.75" x 28.625" high. One or both leaves may be extended for a total length of 92.75". It is in excellent vintage condition with only the most minimal signs of use. There is one very small area of raised wood on the surface, and a few light surface scratches. As is the case on all vintage wood refectory tables, the tabletop is slightly lighter than the leaves due to natural lightening of the wood with sun exposure.

Fantastic Mid Century Modern Retro Dining Set - New Knoll Upholstery! - SOLD

June 15, 2015

This is a terrific vintage 1950s/1960s dining set by Blowing Rock Furniture, North Carolina (a subsiduary of Broyhill Furniture.) It has six chairs and three leaves, so it can be set up to seat 4, 6, 8, or 10 people!

The chairs, with their sculptural backs clearly influenced by the iconic Danish designs of Hans Wegner,  have all been tightened and reupholstered with new high-density seat foam and gorgeous high-end Knoll wool Classic Boucle fabric in a lovely soft grey color. It's the bottom color in the image of fabric, above. ("Neutral": http://www.knoll.com/knolltextileproductdetail/Classic+Boucle).

There are 5 side chairs and one captain's chair with arms, which boasts an exposed joinery detail on the curved back. A few of the chairs have repaired breaks which appear to have been done decades ago and are not very noticeable. I've gone over them and tightened and repaired any issues. All are sturdy and strong... and very comfortable!

The table has gorgeous sculptural leg detailing with brass tips. The table top shows some wear from decades of use (see photos) but is in overall good condition. One of the three leaves is slightly darker, probably because it was rarely used and not exposed to sunlight.

Table dimensions:
Without leaves (seats 4-6) ...58" x 40"
With one leaf ...70" x 40"
With two leaves ...82" x 40"
With three leaves (seats 10) ...94" x 40"
