A rare flip-top dining table designed by Kurt Østervig for KP Mobler, 1961. This piece just came over from Denmark this summer. Stunning, beautifully book-matched Brazilian rosewood (palisander) with brass hinges. This table starts as a compact square seating 4 comfortably, and expands to double its size by flipping open the top and expanding the table base. Wonderful for an apartment, kitchen, or anywhere a smaller table -with the potential to seat a dinner party- is desired. (Chairs are not included but are for sale separately.)
Table is in excellent vintage condition with expected signs of use and the following: a couple of very light scratches; tabletop when closed has a few darker marks (burns?) as shown, and a repaired ding (see photos.) When opened, there a few areas with duller finish and some VERY slight rippled areas of veneer. Signed on the bottom.
