We are very lucky to have a rare dining suite from the highly collectible 'Acclaim' series by Lane Furniture, Alta Vista, Virginia. Designed in the late 1950s by Andre Bus, this series -in glowing walnut with the signature contrasting ash/oak decorative dovetail- captured the hearts of mid century Americans, and it is easy to see why.
This table, model no. 301-52, is in exceptionally fine condition and has been very well cared for. Unlike many Acclaim pieces which have been sanded down and varnished, this piece is in truly excellent original condition. The choice of walnut veneer on the tabletop is fantastic, with gorgeous grain and a light-reflecting "flame" pattern. The tabletop has a lovely tapered "surfboard" shape and fine details including an oak-capped walnut apron. It's really stunning in person!
The table includes three leaves as well as the original fitted table pads. Manufacture date 1962.
Without leaves, the table measures 62" x 38" x 29" high.
Each leaf adds about 12" for a maximum length of 98" - seating 10- great for large gatherings!
We also have a matching set of 8 chairs and a matching sideboard/credenza.
Condition is excellent vintage, with only the most minor signs of age and use. One leg is very slightly bowed (original to the wood) barely noticeable and does not affect the table in any way. As is typical on vintage pieces, the leaves are slightly darker than the tabletop, since they were stored and not exposed to sunlight. The original table pads are in poor but serviceable condition if covered by a tablecloth.
