Sculptural Walnut Side Table by Forest Wilson - SOLD

November 22, 2020

A striking solid walnut cocktail or side table designed by Forest Wilson in Chicago, IL in the early 1960s. The design draws inspiration from the organic and biomorphic styles of legendary designers Isamu Noguchi and Vladimir Kagan. It’s also similar to Adrian Pearsall’s work in the same era. Three sinuous interlocking legs gracefully curve and meet with aluminum-detailed fasteners to create a tripod base for the glass top.

In excellent vintage condition. One of the glass-protectors has been replaced; the top has some very light scratches; there is one ding in a leg.

Rare Illum Wikkelsø Teak Side Tables, A Pair - SOLD

September 21, 2020

A wonderful matching set of teak side tables by Illum Wikkelsø for Hjørring Møbel. These tables have wonderful proportions and great presence in the room. They were designed as part of a modular system with chairs and tables that shared a common base design and could be arranged into a variety of combinations. Very cool! The bases and drawer cabinet are independent parts, and lock together with teak tabs underneath.

These tables, with their capacious divided drawers, would make great nightstands, side- or end tables. They are finished on all sides, so would be great in an open-plan space where they are visible from multiple angles. They are in very good vintage condition with age-appropriate minor scratches and dings. One of the drawers is missing a few dividers as shown, and requires slightly more effort to open.

Hans J. Wegner AT-10 Coffee Table - SOLD

April 22, 2019

One of the most important and influential designers in history, Hans J. Wegner is commonly credited one of the top influencers of the midcentury Danish modern movement. This model AT-10 coffee table, designed in 1955 and produced by the master furniture-makers at Andreas Tuck in Denmark, epitomizes Wegner's strong, minutely considered and elegant designs. The materials (teak, oak, and woven cane) are celebrated, as is the workmanship required to carve the solid teak plank top. It is hard to describe, but in person every little bit of this piece is just perfect. Proportions, materials and details are all superb. It is a piece of art as well as a wonderfully functional piece of furniture.

This piece is in very good vintage condition. There is one strand of broken cane and a few surface scratches as shown. (Since the table is solid teak, these could easily be sanded out, however we chose to retain as much of the patina as possible and did not sand deeply.) Like many solid wood tables, this piece had split along the seam and was professionally repaired and restored.
