One of the most important and influential designers in history, Hans J. Wegner is commonly credited one of the top influencers of the midcentury Danish modern movement. This model AT-10 coffee table, designed in 1955 and produced by the master furniture-makers at Andreas Tuck in Denmark, epitomizes Wegner's strong, minutely considered and elegant designs. The materials (teak, oak, and woven cane) are celebrated, as is the workmanship required to carve the solid teak plank top. It is hard to describe, but in person every little bit of this piece is just perfect. Proportions, materials and details are all superb. It is a piece of art as well as a wonderfully functional piece of furniture.
This piece is in very good vintage condition. There is one strand of broken cane and a few surface scratches as shown. (Since the table is solid teak, these could easily be sanded out, however we chose to retain as much of the patina as possible and did not sand deeply.) Like many solid wood tables, this piece had split along the seam and was professionally repaired and restored.
