This is a spectacular Danish dining table by master Arne Vodder for Sibast. With it's drop leaves lowered, it seats two in a breakfast nook. With the drop leaves up, it seats 6. Add one large leaf and it seats 8 comfortably. Add the second leaf, and at a whopping 9 1/2 feet long it seats 10 easily!
This table is crafted of glowing teak with beautiful details like the brass leaf hinges and sculpted edge detail. The elegantly turned legs are unusual and very Vodder.
Provenance: from the collection of a family who purchased a houseful of furniture in Denmark in the 1950s and had it shipped over to the US, where it remained in storage for many years. It was extraordinarily well-cared for, along with the rest of the Moller, Nanna Ditzel, Arne Vodder and Finn Juhl furniture we obtained from the same collection. This table is in excellent vintage condition with only the most minor signs of wear. There is a little bit of play in the wooden sliding extension supports which allows for a slight sag in the middle when both leaves are installed. Using small wooden shims between the supports and leaves will level the table in this situation.
