Rarely seen in the United States, highboards were an integral part of Danish interiors in the 1950s and '60s. In typical Scandinavian fashion, a whole lot of usefulness and style is packed into one piece of furniture. This piece was just brought over from Denmark this past summer. It has gorgeous patina, elegantly raised end panels and great recessed pulls. A central bank features 3 dovetailed drawers above and a sliding door below with one adjustable shelf. To the left, the sliding door reveals a fantastic mirrored bar area and shelving; to the right are hidden 2 drawers and 2 shelves.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition with the following blemishes to note: left slider door has a chip on inner edge; sliding doors have dings on back edge from drawer handles; light scratches to doors; middle drawer has small dent and tiny, old veneer chip; the right side very back corner has a repaired chip; the green felt in the interior silverware drawers shows wear; top has a few light rings as shown. These are not at all offensive; for the top of a 60-year-old credenza it is in great shape. All in all, this piece represents very well and makes an impressive and graceful statement in any room!
