What a stunner! This handsome teak tambour-door credenza with removable glass-fronted top unit was made by Lovig in Denmark and designed by the renowned Jens Quistgaard - most famous for his iconic designs for Dansk (Kobenstyle cookware, teak ice buckets and pepper mills, and much more.) This piece is highly collectible -check out the prices at other dealers online. Here is a chance to own an iconic piece of Danish design for well below normal cost, due to some damage as noted below.
The substantial credenza base unit features hide-away tambour doors with handsome teak and aluminum pulls, elegantly tapered legs, beautiful figuring and the perfect warm amber patina of decades-old teak. Behind the doors is a bank of adjustable-height drawers, the top two of which are felt-lined for silverware.
The glass-fronted hutch can be used as shown, or separately on the floor as a low book/display case. Both pieces are fully finished on the backs, allowing them to be floated in a room as a room divider.
Despite the issues cataloged below, this piece is beautiful in person. If I had a place for it in my home I would surely be keeping it!
Condition: overall very good with light scratches and wear, plus: the leading edges of the tambour doors are damaged such that the first couple of inches do not stay in their tracks. This does not affect use and is not readily noticeable on casual inspection. Bottom left corner of case is damaged as shown. Light rings on the top of hutch. The very backs of the back legs have heat marks from being up against a radiator. We have priced this piece at half the value it would otherwise have.
