A wonderful 1950's teak bookcase secretary desk with exceptional grain and book-matched teak veneers. This piece is usually mis-attributed to Borge Mogensen (due to the "BM" stamp on the back) but was actually designed by Johannes Sorth and produced by Bornholms Møbelfabrik in Denmark. The top section offers two adjustable tapered shelves. In the middle you will find a slide-out writing desk, a set of two tambour doors that glide smoothly revealing additional storage, including three interior drawers, four mail slots and a cubby with an adjustable shelf. The bottom offers three dove tail built drawers with sculpted recess pull handles in solid teak. This beautiful piece rests on a base with delicate tapered legs.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition. There is a grommet installed in the back panel for power cord as shown. The pull-out desk top has a few minor scratches and a small chip on the front right corner. There is a ding on one shelf. The right side has a couple of minor chips and a tiny spot of white paint embedded in the grain, and there are a couple of small chips on the drawers.
