A wonderful 1950's teak bookcase secretary desk. This piece is usually mis-attributed to Borge Mogensen (due to the "BM" stamp on the back) but was actually designed by Johannes Sorth and produced by Bornholms Møbelfabrik in Denmark. The top section offers two adjustable tapered shelves. In the middle you will find a slide-out writing desk, a set of two tambour doors that glide smoothly revealing additional storage, including three interior drawers, four mail slots and a cubby with an adjustable shelf. The bottom offers three dove tail built drawers with sculpted recess pull handles in solid teak. This beautiful piece rests on a base with delicate tapered legs.
This piece is in good vintage condition. Please see photos. The corners have veneer chips, the bottom drawer binds a little (may be due to the current excessive humidity!), and a previous owner treated the piece with a darker tinted Danish oil or stain, which is evident upon close inspection. It is still a lovely piece and presents very well. It is offered here at less than half the normal value due to these imperfections.
