Renowned Danish designer Jens Risom was an early pioneer in introducing Danish modern furniture to the United States, both through his early work with Knoll Furniture and mostly through his own company in the 1950s and ’60s.
This remarkable lounge chair was design for the Caribe Hilton Hotel in Puerto Rico, circa 1949. It is fully labeled with the Risom label. The walnut frame has been re-upholstered with high-density foam and a wonderful Knoll Rivington fabric in Ash Gray. Rivington is a premium, sophisticated all-over multicolor texture using space-dyed yarns, inspired by the work of visionary textile designer Bernat Klein. Designed by Dorothy Cosonas for upholstery use.
