This is an early version of Grete Jalk's iconic teak-framed lounge chair, made by France & Daverkosen Møbelfabrik in the 1950s before the company became France & Son. it is so very handsome, with it's elegant paddle-shaped arms and canted back legs. Fully signed.
This chair is in very good vintage condition. The frame is sturdy and has a beautiful patina. There is one light scratch on the arm and three chips to the front edge (under the cushion.) The original innerspring seat cushion and a new, elegantly tapered back cushion have been re-upholstered in Maharam's gorgeous Divina Melange by Kvadrat 100% wool felt.
