Designer Gerald Thurston’s right hand was insured for a million dollars. His designs were at the cutting edge of mid-century lighting and are highly collectible today. This piece is from Lightolier's "Scandia" collection, c. 1957, influenced by Scandinavian design. This lamp was purchased in Manhattan by an advertising designer in the 50s. It looks so lovely when lit! Switch marked "Lightolier".
Vintage condition with age-related wear. We have not attempted to polish the brass tripod base. The opal glass shade has been broken and repaired at the bottom back side, which is mostly hidden by the brass base. There is also a hairline crack in the top edge. One of the brass arms is missing it's cap. See photos for these areas. Price reflects these issues.
