A sculptural teak drop-leaf table, Model No. 20/59 designed by Peter Hvidt & Orla Molgaard-Nielsen, c. 1960, for France & Son, Denmark. The graceful carved solid teak legs with brass hardware details swing out to support the elegant leaves to create an elongated oval surface. This is a perfectly versatile table: designed to be used as a beautiful console table with the leaves down; or, for small homes, it can be used against the wall with one leaf extended as a small table for 2 or 3, and then pulled out and fully opened to seat more. (With no apron in the way, arm chairs can slide all the way under the tabletop, an uncommon feature in Danish tables of this era. )This table is just gorgeous from any angle!
