SET/4 ICONIC "FLOATING SEAT" LEATHER & ROSEWOOD DINING CHAIRS BY ERIK BUCH - SOLD

Described as some of the most comfortable dining chairs ever made, these solid Brazilian rosewood (palisander) chairs by Erik Buch (Buck) for O.D. Møbler (Oddense Maskinsnedkeri) are becoming one of the most desirable designs for collectors of mid-century Danish furniture. Designed in 1949. They feature Buch's wonderful "floating" seat, lovely joinery and great attention to detail. and did we mention how comfortable they are???

These beauties have been professionally re-upholstered with new foam and top-quality, supple dark slate gray leather. The solid rosewood frames are in excellent condition.

Set/6 BØRGE MOGENSEN No. 155 TEAK DINING CHAIRS - SOLD

A wonderful set of teak dining chairs (model no. 155) designed in the 1950s by acclaimed Danish designer  Børge Mogensen for Søborg Mobelfabrik. These chairs feature beautiful joinery details and a warm, soulful patina. The seats are wider than is typical for vintage Danish chairs.

This set is in very good vintage condition. There are some very minor scratches and one ding (see photo) on the seats. A couple of the chairs have small nicks along the front edge and old, filled veneer chips on the bottoms of the seats. Some of the leg joints have been professionally re-glued and pegged over the years.

Set/4 Sculptural Cherry Dining Chairs by Heywood-Wakefield - SOLD

August 19, 2017

From Heywood-Wakefield's modernist 1960s 'Cliff House Collection', named for San Francisco's famous hotel. The Cliff House Collection uses a lovely warm Black Cherry. These chairs feature a sculptural fanning backrest reminiscent of designs by George Nakashima or Thomas Moser, exceptional grain and sleek lines. The chairs are stamped Heywood-Wakefield, Doeskin on the bottom. 

In very good vintage condition with some scratches in general. There is some finish wear on the legs as shown, and minor dings/abrasions as shown.

Danish Teak Dining Chairs by Vamdrup Stolefabrik, Set/6 - SOLD

Unusual and oh-so-comfortable, a set of four side chairs and two armchairs made in Denmark by Vamdrup Stolefabrik. Poul Hundevad designed for Vamdrup, and these chairs share design similarities with his pieces, but we have not made a positive attribution to the designer.

This set of 6 is in excellent vintage condition with only very minor signs of wear.

J.L. Møller No. 78 Teak and Cord Dining Chairs, Denmark, Set/4 - SOLD

ON HOLD

A set of four 1960s model no. 78 dining chairs by Niels O. Møller for J.L. Møller. This is one of my favorite Møller chair designs... I love the sprightly, sculptural details and slenderness. It reminds me of some elegant creature like an antelope!

Solid teak frames and Danish paper cord seats. These chairs are in very good vintage condition. The cord seats have no breaks and only very minor staining and wear. Altogether gorgeous!

A set of four handsome teak dining chairs made by Johannes Andersen. Solid teak frames. In very good vintage condition. Teak frames show only minor wear. Three fastener plugs are missing, as is typical with these vintage chairs. The original tweedy upholstery has some faint staining but is usable and attractive.

American of Martinsville 'Dania' Walnut Dining Chairs - SOLD

Walnut dining chairs designed in the 1950s by Merton Gershun for American of Martinsville's iconic 'Dania' line. We are pleased to offer an entire dining suite from this collection including dining chairs, credenza, buffet and china cabinet. These chairs have been reupholstered with new high-density foam and gorgeous, soft, nubbly HBF Textiles 'Afghan' boucle in a platinum-silver colorway that contrasts beautifully with the walnut frames. (See second photo for most accurate color.)

We have 10 chairs total. Seven side chairs and three arm chairs.

We are willing to sell in smaller sets as follows:

These chairs are in very good vintage condition with age-appropriate scratches, dings and finish wear. A few chairs have puppy chews on the lower spindles. One chair has a repaired split on the back seat/leg joint, barely noticeable. A few chairs have veneer chips on the small supports between backrest and leg. Brand new foam and upholstery.

Rare Pair of Moller #404 Armchairs in Teak & Cord - SOLD

These chairs have some serious presence with their gorgeous detailing and wide, handsome frames. This is a pair of rarely-seen, beautifully-made Danish chairs with unusual, bold geometric design and finger-jointed detail.

Moller #404, designed in 1974 by Jorgen Henrik Moller for J.L. Moller Mobelfabrik of Denmark. The chairs are crafted of solid teak with classic Danish paper cord seats. The joinery details and craftsmanship are beautiful. They are of outstanding quality and construction.

These chairs are en excellent vintage condition. They are nearly immaculate, with just one tiny chip in one arm.

Sculptural Arne Vodder for Vamo Sønderborg Dining Chairs in Leather, Set/4 - SOLD

Wow, what a beautiful set of chairs! Designed by Danish master Arne Vodder and made by the highly skilled craftsmen at Vamo Sønderborg in the 1950s or 60s. Exquisitely organic, flowing lines. The gorgeously grained solid wood frames (we believe they are Afrormosia wood) contrast beautifully with the new top-quality leather seats. Simply stunning.

These chairs are in excellent vintage condition. There are a few light scratches as shown and a small chip ay the top of one leg. Brand new soft, supple top-quality leather seats. Marked with the retailer's stamp.

Sweet Mid-Century Walnut Side or Desk Chair in Walnut - SOLD

There is something really wonderful about this little desk chair... it is beautifully proportioned and has lovely details like the exposed finger-joint joinery at the top of the legs. Made in Yugoslavia in the 1960s. Reupholstered in  Camira's Blazer Wool that contrasts beautifully with the warm wood. (Blazer is a classic pure new wool upholstery fabric with a billiard cloth felted finish. The fabric is made from premium New Zealand lambswool and benefits from complete integrity right from individual sheep farms to the finished fabric.)

In excellent vintage condition with a few light scratches and blemishes as shown.

Set/4 Danish Dining Chairs in Citron Linen - SOLD

A set of four beautiful Danish chairs crafted from solid Afrormosia. Design attributed to Johannes Andersen, but unmarked. The previous owner had these chairs reupholstered in citron green linen, which contrasts beautifully with the gorgeous wood grain. The last two photos were taken in natural daylight, and represents the color best.

In excellent vintage condition. Frames have typical light wear. One chair had two of the seat supports replaced by previous owner. Upholstery is in excellent condition with only a couple of very light smudges. Some of the fastener plugs were replaced.

Pair of Niels Møller #75 Teak Dining Chairs - SOLD

A beautiful pair of sculptural, elegant teak dining chairs by Niels Otto Møller for J.L. Møller. This model was Møller’s second design and one of his finest. The backrest is sculpted out of solid teak and is so beautifully made it begs to be touched. Fine joinery and high quality craftsmanship.

Excellent vintage condition. One chair has a couple of tiny nicks in the back edge (see photos). The original leatherette "skai" upholstery is in good condition with a few tiny paint splatters.

Iconic walnut 'Eva' Danish dining chairs designed in 1964 by Niels Koefoed for Hornslet Mobelfabrik. These elegant and comfortable chairs match the Koefoeds Hornslet walnut dining table we also have listed. 

In excellent vintage condition with minor rubs and very light scratches. Original leatherette "skai" upholstery is in great condition with one small repaired divot on the seat of one chair (see photo.) A couple of the chairs have a tiny white paint splatter marks.

Set/8 Teak and Leather 'Juliane' Chairs by Johannes Andersen - SOLD

We're pleased to present a set of eight exquisitely sculpted solid teak dining chairs by Johannes Andersen. This is the 'Juliane' chair, produced by Uldum Møbelfabrik in Denmark. They have been recovered in soft, top-quality black leather which sets off the beautiful patina of the decades-old teak. These chairs are beautiful from all angles!

This set is in very good vintage condition. Most chairs are excellent. Two chairs have puppy chew marks on the legs: one back leg and one front leg. One chair has repaired cracks on front and side rails under the seat. One chair has a very small chip where the side rail meets the back leg. There is a natural leather flaw in the seat of one. Please see detail photos.

Fresh from a Danish auction house: a stunning set of six Brazilian rosewood and black leather chairs by Henry Rosengren Hansen for Brande Møbelindustri in Denmark, circa 1960. These elegant chairs feature beautifully sculptural carved joinery at the back rest and gorgeous rosewood grain.

These chairs are in very good vintage condition. There are a few light scratches on the back rests. Some of the original leather seats have surface cracks: they have been thoroughly cleaned and conditioned. These chairs are study and comfortable. We also have two rosewood dining tables.

Set/6 Teak and Leather Chairs by Johannes Andersen - SOLD

We are pleased to present this outstanding set of solid teak and black leather designed by Johannes Andersen for Andersen Møbelfabrik in the 1960s.

These beautiful chairs feature Andersen’s characteristic organic, sculptural curved details. They are also very comfortable! They are in excellent vintage condition with only minor signs of wear. The leather has the wonderful patina of time, with a few creases and rubbed areas. Please see photos.
