Fantastic "floating" 2-sided teak desk by Gunni Omann - SOLD

February 11, 2016

Omann Jun Model No. 75: A beautiful and sculptural Danish teak desk designed by Gunni Omann and crafted by Omann Jun Møbelfabrik c. 1960. The drawer cases appear to float suspended below the desk top and hugged by wonderfully sculpted exterior legs. The cases, with nice beveled edges, house three drawers each; on the reverse side are open storage cubbies - for books or display- and a drop-down storage area. This is a beautifully made, high quality piece of Danish mid-century design.

This piece is in very good vintage condition with wear commensurate with age and use. To note: a few scratches, a very light ring  and one dent on the desktop and a couple of very small veneer chips on drawers. See photos.

Danish Bow-Front Secretary Desk or Bar c. 1960 by Poul M. Jessen - SOLD

February 6, 2016

This is a beautiful and multi-functional piece of mid-century Danish furniture. Designed as a drop-down desk, it could also be used as a bar, vanity or entryway piece.

It has a beautifully bowed front, curved edges on the bottoms of the side panels, and beautifully curved inner drawers. There are four drawers (with beautiful carved pulls) below for plenty of storage, and behind the drop-down desk are six more small drawers, with nice delicate pulls, and a sliding-door cabinet. very nice! Signed with metal tag (PMJ Viby J. Denmark) on verso.

This sweet desk is in good vintage condition, with beautiful book-matched teak veneer on the drawer fronts. To note: some stains to the desktop, a few areas of finish discoloration, some chipping to the top right edge, a ding on the left side of the case.  The front of the drop-down desk was clearly left open for a long time, and the teak that was not exposed to sunlight is slightly darker than the rest. See photos.

Desk height when open = 30.375". Desk depth to hinge (also continues further back past hinge) = 12"

Fantastic Mid-Century Walnut "Bowtie" Desk with Finished, Caned Back - SOLD

November 8, 2015

Wow, this is a really unusual and stunning desk! The desktop is a unique "bowtie" shape and made of glowing, beautifully figured walnut. Two deep red-oak drawers, with unusual circular pulls, flank a bowtie-shaped shallow center drawer.

On the back side, the desk is fully finished and features a beautiful caned panel. Many of the gorgeous details and accents remind us of Ed Wormley's Janus Collection for Dunbar Furniture, but this piece is unmarked and we do not who made it.

This desk is in very good restored condition with typical signs of wear including some light stains to the top and a split in the walnut framing around the cane panel. See photos.

52" W x 27.875" D (20" at narrowest point) x 29" high.
The "knee space" is a generous 25" W x 24.5" H.
