Solid Walnut Credenza with Brass Pulls - $850

March 8, 2021

This piece has a lot of presence! The fabulous solid brass conical pulls offset the glowing solid teak cabinet. Bifold doors open to adjustable interior shelves. Made by the Majestic Furniture Company in the 1950s. It’s a great size for a smaller living space.

This piece is in overall very good vintage condition. There are some flaws as shown. The solid teak boards have separated ever so slightly on the top. There is a 8” x 18” rectangle cut out of the back panel, presumably for media component access. The doors are slightly finicky (right door must be shut before left) and there are some small veneer flaws inside. Overall very nice!

BØRGE MOGENSEN 'ØRESUND' TEAK & OAK CREDENZA - SOLD

January 4, 2021

Acclaimed Danish designer Børge Mogensen wanted to create the best storage systems for Scandinavian families. He did studies to determine the standard measures for common objects, such as cutlery and shirts, and how many of each item the average person owned. With this information he developed a set of figures for the base width and depth of drawers and shelves, and his information tables were published as a manual on building storage systems. Between 1955 and 1968 he worked with Karl Andersson & Söner, designing the company’s first modern furniture series, 'Øresund' in 1955.

This gorgeous sliding-door cabinet was designed as part of the Øresund system. The piece can be displayed fully closed, or with one side open to admire the subtly painted drawers. This line is known for the very high quality construction and careful choice of materials. Notice the oak door tracks: no plastic here! It features highly functional, completely customizable interior storage options. There are seven removable drawers and two shelves. Both shelves and drawers can be rearranged however desired, since their supports are not fixed. If you need storage for taller objects, just increase the spacing between the drawers: so customizable!

In excellent vintage condition with only light wear as shown. This series was available with a variety of bases. We have re-created the original legs for this piece in white oak as originally offered.
