This is such a beautiful and refined table! The Minerva Seating Group was designed in 1955 by highly collectible Danish designers Peter Hvidt (1916-1986) and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen (1907-1993) and produced by the high-quality cabinetmakers at France & Son. Unusual among Danish tables, this piece is crafted of solid teak, not veneers. The teak wood chosen is gorgeous, with beautiful glowing grain and great patina. It is wonderfully hand-crafted with elegant sculpted edges and tapered legs. Designed to be placed in the corner between seating arranged at 90 degrees to one another, this table could be used in may other situations as well.
This piece is dated from between 1957 and 1962. The timber stock retains the "fd" gold stamp from the company's earlier name, France and Daverkosen in addition to it's new badge with the new name: France & Son. This piece is in excellent vintage condition. The top has very light small stains and discolorations and an area where an object blocked sub exposure (this will even out with exposure to light.) The lower surface has minor scratches and tiny areas of light discoloration. Overall the piece presents very well. Please see photos.
