Mid-Century Walnut Side / Coffee Table - SOLD

September 13, 2015

Nicely proportioned walnut square coffee, cocktail, side- or end-table made in the 1960s. Although unmarked, this table came from an estate filled with Milo Baughman, Thayer Coggin, Eames, and Kipp Stewart among other high-end designer pieces. The owner had purchased everything from fine furniture stores in Manhattan in the 1960s when he worked there in advertising.

This sweet table measures 30" x 30" x 19.5" high. It has lovely, consistent walnut grain and is in very good vintage condition with an couple of areas of slightly lighter finish on the top (see photos.)

Superb Mid-Century Teak Surfboard Coffee Table by Grete Jalk, Denmark - SOLD

September 12, 2015

Large, gorgeous teak surfboard coffee table designed by Grete Jalk. Expertly hand-crafted by Glostrup Møbelfabrik in Denmark in the 1960s. This is the large size of Ms. Jalk's iconic and highly collectible design, with breadboard ends and a carved, sculptural raised lip.

There is a slatted magazine rack below, and Grete Jalk's signature brass fastener detail. Retains original "Glostrup Møbelfabrik, Made in Denmark" label. This large table is in excellent vintage condition with only minor signs of wear consistent with age. If the light is very low and direct across the table, a slight raised area is seen, but honestly you have to look extremely hard to see it. (We wanted to photograph it for you and we spent five minutes with a flashlight trying to find it! See last picture.)

This is a big coffee table, measuring 63.25" x 23.5" x 16.75" to the table surface (17.5" overall including raised lip.)

This is a terrific and versatile piece of vintage mid-century furniture, inspired by designer George Nelson's iconic slat bench for Herman Miller. This Danish Modern bench is equally sweet as a coffee table or extra seating. Maker unknown, but probably American or Yugoslavian. A moving sticker underneath indicates it was in California a long time ago!

54" x 18.25" x 16.25". Top is in average vintage condition with some expected dings, dents and scrapes. Legs are not original.

Very Fine, Large 1960s Teak Coffee Table with Floating Top designed by Ole Wanscher for France & Son, Denmark - SOLD

September 8, 2015

Outstanding quality and craftsmanship!  The glowing teak top of this very large "sofabord" is lifted above the sculptural frame by brass standoffs. The joinery is very high quality. This is a really wonderful piece of furniture by a truly gifted designer, Ole Wanscher, and created by France and Son -one the most well-respected furnituremakers in Denmark. Notice the metal France and Son tag with stamped serial number. This is heirloom quality furniture.

59" x 23.75" x 17.75" high. This table has been protected by a custom-fit glass top, which is included. The table is in very good vintage condition with some very light surface scratches and the following, which are shown in the last 4 photos above: two areas of light staining on the top (shown with glass bird for scale), an old, very slight chipped area of edge banding on one corner, and a slight rough spot on the bottom edge. These areas are hard to spot: overall the table looks excellent.

Milo Baughman attributed Brass Coffee Table - SOLD

September 8, 2015

This is a great, glam octagonal coffee table base attributed to Milo Baughman.. 25.0ʺW × 25.0ʺD × 15.675ʺH

It is in good vintage condition with expected scuffs, and some oxidation marks to the antique brass finish (please see photos.) This piece originally had an octagonal glass top. A previous owner replaced it with the 3/4" thick glass top (37.5" square) which is chipped as shown. I have included a photograph of the original hexagonal top in case you choose to have a reproduction made, and have reduced the price accordingly.

Outstanding pair of rare end tables by John Keal for Brown Saltman c. 1950 - SOLD

September 8, 2015

An exceptional pair of bleached mahogany side tables in a rectangular form with one drawer. There is a fabulous rounded and tapered edge detail to the tabletop front and back. The tapered legs end in some pretty amazing feet made from solid brass rod and bakelite. Wow!

This is a really arresting pair in person: the striations in the mahogany catch the light and it's just gorgeous. With a maker’s label on the interior of the drawer as well as a brass plaque "Barbo's Fine Furniture, Stoneham, Mass". By John Keal for Brown Saltman. American, circa 1950.

One table is in very good vintage condition with only minor signs of expected typical wear from a piece this age such as light surface wear and scratches and a few small dings in the top. The other shows a bit more wear including more noticeable dings and scratches, an area of finish lightening to the top, a slight veneer chip on one side, and a blemish (burn mark?) on the back lip.

Both pieces have a beautiful patina and look stunning as-is, but could certainly be refinished if you prefer your vintage pristine :)

Large Vintage Mid-Century Modern Glass Coffee Table, Barcelona Style - SOLD

September 4, 2015

This is a terrific, very well-made vintage coffee table or cocktail table after Mies Van Der Rohe's iconic Barcelona table. Very heavy, thick glass (worth the cost of the table alone!) sits atop a heavy brushed-chrome base. It's a great, iconic look that blends with almost any decor from mid-century to antiques!

48" x 38" x 18.5" high
In very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks to the 3/4" thick glass top, just a couple of light surface scratches. Base is of brushed chromed 2" stock and shows some light pitting as shown. It appears to be missing some screw-in foot levelers/glides, but we can provide self-adhesive replacements. Presents very well.

1950s Mid-Century Heritage Henredon Nesting Tables - Walnut - SOLD

June 3, 2015

This is a great set of Mid-Century nesting tables with really beautiful lines. They are tall and have elegantly tapered legs and a wonderful, delicate spindle detail. A very refined and elegant mid-century set in the style of T.H. Robsjohn Gibbings or Ed Wormley. They are made from walnut and fully marked with the Heritage Henredon stamp as shown.

Large table: 19.625" x 24.675" x 23.5" high
Medium: 19.125" x 16" x 22" high
Small: 14.125" x 15.5" x 21" high

All tables have light scratches in the finish, which have been made more noticeable by recent oiling, and the medium table has an area of finish damage. They could certainly be refinished if you like your vintage pristine!
