An exceptional pair of bleached mahogany side tables in a rectangular form with one drawer. There is a fabulous rounded and tapered edge detail to the tabletop front and back. The tapered legs end in some pretty amazing feet made from solid brass rod and bakelite. Wow!
This is a really arresting pair in person: the striations in the mahogany catch the light and it's just gorgeous. With a maker’s label on the interior of the drawer as well as a brass plaque "Barbo's Fine Furniture, Stoneham, Mass". By John Keal for Brown Saltman. American, circa 1950.
One table is in very good vintage condition with only minor signs of expected typical wear from a piece this age such as light surface wear and scratches and a few small dings in the top. The other shows a bit more wear including more noticeable dings and scratches, an area of finish lightening to the top, a slight veneer chip on one side, and a blemish (burn mark?) on the back lip.
Both pieces have a beautiful patina and look stunning as-is, but could certainly be refinished if you prefer your vintage pristine :)
