Vintage Scandinavian Wicker Bassinet - SOLD

April 15, 2018

We were told that this sweet piece was made in Denmark for the owner of Field House Furniture in the 1960s. Natural woven wicker basket with wooden base, foam mattress and (new) natural sheepskin. This piece originally had a red-and-white gingham cover and bonnet hood, which we removed to uncover the natural cotton cover shown. The original covers and bamboo bonnet frame are included should you wish to pattern new ones.

In used vintage condition with a few breaks in the wicker and noticeable wear to the base and wheels. Price reflects this.

John Stuart Full Size Headboard with Attached Nightstands by Mt. Airy - SOLD

July 1, 2017

This is a high quality mid-century headboard with matching nightstands from the 'Contempora' collection by Mt. Airy Furniture in North Carolina. This piece was retailed by John Stuart, a high-end furniture importer who specialized in Danish and American designer pieces. (The 'Contempra' set is often attributed to the great Danish designer, Finn Juhl, but we believe it was simply influenced by his designs.)

The storage headboard features sliding doors and a comfortable slanted back for reading in bed. The attached nightstands have drop-down storage and are hinged to allow them to pivot inward, bringing the surface closer to the bed. In bleached walnut with fabulous solid brass pulls (please note: the pulls are currently being polished. In these photos they are tarnished.) These pieces are very heavy, as they are made primarily of walnut. There is a lot of solid walnut, and, according to the original tag, even the plywood beneath the veneered areas is made primarily of walnut!

In used vintage condition with finish wear and dings. Attaches to a typical metal bed frame.

A matching mirror and desk are available.

Headboard measures 54.25" wide x 10" deep x 36" high
Each nightstand measures 15" wide x 10" deep x 20"
Total width 84.5"

Danish Teak Queen Platform Bed with Floating Nightstands - SOLD

June 17, 2017

Sleek Danish queen-sized "floating" platform bed with attached nightstands. Made for DanFlex in Denmark, circa 1970s.

In excellent vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. To note: the nightstands have a few small veneer chips on the edges and light scratches on the surface. One of the side rails has a chipped area on the bottom edge, which is hidden by the nightstand. There are a couple of small lighter areas on the nightstand edges which appear to be filled chips from the time of manufacture. The (very long!) headboard has a very slight curve over the length. We have found this to be the case with all of these teak platform beds we've had and is not really noticeable... I just wanted to be thorough in pointing out the minor flaws.

This bed breaks down quickly and easily for transport. The nightstands are removable from the headboard. They could be easily raised, if desired, to accommodate a thicker modern mattress.

Mid-Century Walnut and Rosewood Headboard and Nightstands - Full, Queen, King

May 20, 2017

This is such a cool set! Beautifully grained mixed-wood, book-matched veneers and solids including walnut and rosewood, with really nice details. This is part of a full bedroom set we have (see matching mirror and dressers), this headboard can be configured for any size bed frame! Originally designed for a full/double bed, the previous owners moved the bed frame attachments to fit a queen. Likewise, they could easily be unscrewed and attached for whatever size mattress you wish. See photos for the various configurations.

Headboard - 98" wide x 2.675" deep x 40.25" high (could be shortened if desired.)
Nightstands - 22" wide x 16" deep x 25.25" high

This set is in excellent vintage condition. The nightstand tops are nearly pristine, since they were covered by custom-fit glass tops (included if desired) for their entire lives. One nightstand has a minor scratch on front, small ding on right side, small chip on top drawer. Both have minor wear on the handles. Headboard is excellent.

Danish Teak Queen Platform Bed by W & B Møbler- SOLD

March 4, 2017

A beautiful, minimalist queen teak platform bed made by W&B Møbler in Denmark. The simple design appears to float over the teak base. I love the elegantly curved side rails.  It is in very good vintage condition with a few minor veneer chips and scratches and a small split in the trim on the headboard. See photos. The teak has beautiful grain and a great patina. The bed slats pictured are included if desired, however we have heard reports that these slats may cause squeaking. Danish Rosewood Queen Bed - SOLD

October 1, 2016

This Danish queen-sized bed features sumptuous rosewood grain, a beautiful finger-jointed corner detail and floating, integral nightstands. Imported by Maurice Villency of New York, one of the first importers of high-end Danish furniture in the US.

This bed was modified by the previous owner from its original mattress-only configuration to accept a standard queen sized box spring and mattress. it is in good vintage condition with the following to note: some dings/dents on the leading edge of the headboard; top of headboard is faded from being in front of a window; a few veneer chips to the back edge and back corners of the headboard, the back edge of the left nightstand, and the bottom edge of the headboard and frame; the left nightstand has some separation at the back of the bottom shelf, which is not noticeable when installed and does not affect performance at all.
