1960 John Widdicomb Sculptural Tall Post King Size Bed - SOLD

July 1, 2016

Stunning mid-century sculptural tall post by the high-end furniture company John Widdicomb, Grand Rapids MI circa 1960. Beautiful wood, beautiful details, a really elegant and unusual bed. This same bed is for sale elsewhere for $1,995. This is a terrific deal on wonderful bed!

In very good vintage condition. The excellent headboard has a few very minor scratches and small areas of finish alligatoring, but presents beautifully. The foot board and frames have the usual, age-appropriate dings and scratches, particularly on the legs.

Includes the tall headboard and low-profile frames. As with most mid-century king beds, this was intended for two twin mattresses. The bed frame is hinged on the headboard to allow the two sides to swing apart. Or just use the headboard with a standard king bed.

Overall dimensions:
79.5" wide x 81" long x 73" high

Footboard height 9.5"; headboard not including spindles ~36"

Space for mattress:
77" x 76"

Fantastic American Walnut Full/Double Bed - SOLD

May 18, 2016

ON HOLD - An unusual mid-century bed circa 1960. This is part of the bedroom set that includes the dressers with saturn-shaped pulls. This bed includes a headboard and footboard (American walnut) and metal side rails. (There are two cross supports, but I would recommend a set of wooden bed slats like this, instead, especially if you plan to use it without a box spring.) If you plan to use without a box spring, the headboard can easily be shortened so it's not so high.

In good vintage condition with one large chip in the footboard, shown, a some small dents on the headboard.

This bed is in very good vintage condition with age appropriate wear, including a few chips and a small split (non-structural) to the teak side rails and a few dings to the head/foot boards.
