One of our favorite designs from Dansk, the iconic 'Congo' staved teak ice bucket, designed by Jens Quistgaard.
Designed in 1961 and inspired by the hulls of viking ships, this staved teak design is sometimes called the "Viking'. It is one of Quistgaard's most famous pieces; it has become an iconic symbol of mid-century design. By 1966 it had been added to the permanent collections of 23 art museums around the world, including The Louvre, New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art and London's Victoria and Albert Museum.
This example has a a chip on the handle and a cracked liner, so it is not watertight and should be used for display only. It is a beautiful object!
