Teak Wall Unit Attr. Torbjørn Afdal for Bruksbo - SOLD

May 29, 2017

This is one of the nicest Scandinavian wall units we've seen. It is SO lovely in person. It is a bit more petite than most, and has really nice details like the beveled case edges, sculpted brass drawer pulls, and etched glass doors. This set features a cabinet with a small drop-down bar (cutout shelf for bottle storage), drawers and cubby; a glass fronted display cabinet with a glass shelf; a shallow drawer unit; and four shelves. The teak has a beautiful color and patina.

The set is in overall very good vintage condition, with the following to note:
-Shallow drawer unit has a small ink stain and small worn spot on top, small veneer chip on edge of drawer, small veneer chip back corner. One drawer is missing liner paper and is stained inside.
-Drop-down bar has worn area bottom corner.
-One shelf has large ink stain (install it high up and it won't be visible!) One shelf has a small notch cut out of back edge, probably to allow electrical cord to pass through. Light tarnish to the brass shelf supports.
-Wall rails/supports have general wear, especially on one around the screw hole. This could be strategically placed behind a cabinet to cover it.

Overall dimensions as shown:
64.75" wide x 12" deep x 58.25" high

Includes:
3x wall supports 58.25"
4x shelves 31.5" wide x 9.5" deep
1x Glass-door cabinet 31.5" wide x 12" deep x 13.125" high
1x Two-drawer unit 31.5" wide x 12" deep x 6.125" high
1x Bar cabinet 31.5" wide x 12" deep x 13.125" high

Danish Teak Wall Unit/Stereo & Record & China Cabinet- SOLD

May 29, 2017

This is a handsome and versatile piece of vintage Danish furniture. The four pieces can be arranged as best suits you, either all as one wall unit as shown, or two separate units.

Two base cabinets house adjustable shelving. One top unit has glass-fronted doors and adjustable shelving. The other has open shelving, including removable vertical dividers for record or magazine storage. There are discreet cutouts at the backs to allow electrical cords to reach the main surface area (where the turntable is located in these photos.) The glass cabinet, and lowest section of both tops, has integral lighting (not tested.)

Overall very good vintage condition with expected light wear and some flaws as shown in the detail photos: One shelf in glass cabinet has light white rings; one base cabinet top has a darker ring at back edge and light scratches; top units have small chips on bottom corners; base units have small chips on bottom corners and one larger chip. (If used together as shown, that larger chip will be hidden.)

Overall measurements as shown:
78.875" wide x 19" deep x 76.25" high

Base units measure 39.375" wide x 19" deep x 25.675" high
Top units measure 39.375" wide x 12.5" deep x 50.5" high

Teak Wall-Hung Desk and/or Chest of Drawers Wall Unit - SOLD

May 20, 2017

This is a very cool, rarely-seen German mid-century "Omnia" set by Hilker. Part of a modular system, offered here are a drop-down desk and small chest of drawers. We think they're great as a desk system, as shown, but could also work well separately. If you'd like to purchase only one piece, please contact us for pricing. (Chair not included.)

The chest of drawers stands on adorable black metal legs and also attaches to the wall at the top for stability. It is height-adjustable, since there are several holes in the black frame that can be used. The brass handles have some tarnish, and the black metal frame has some light rust and wear. A coat of black spray paint would remedy that if desired!
Drawer case: 18" w x 16" d x 19.75"h
Installed as shown: 30.675" high (can be adjusted) x 19" wide x 16.25" deep

The drop down desk features a sweet contrasting maple interior with a wonderful light that turns on only when the desk is opened! It can be installed using the metal frame shown, or simply screwed through the back into the wall. (We'd recommend screwing into the wall either way, even with the frame in use, since some of the holes are a bit elongated from use and it would be sturdier with added screws through the back.) The desk front has some fading, a repaired chip, and a few light scratches. The front corners have some small veneer chips. The desk work surface has some finish wear, scratches, a burn mark, and a couple of small drilled holes. it isn't perfect, but it's still very cool!
Case measures 34.75" wide x 10.5" deep x 19.75" high.
Wall brackets, if used, are 23.5" each.
Desk surface is 18.25" x 33.5"
Widths of top storage areas are 13" and 10"
Interior depth when closed: 9.375"

Fine Danish Teak Bookcase by Søborg for John Stuart - SOLD

March 21, 2017

This is a gorgeous teak bookcase made by the highly respected Søborg Møbelfabrik (design attributed to Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen). It was retailed by high-end importer John Stuart. The teak is gorgeous and has the perfect patina of decades. The simple shape belies the attention to detail and scale by the designer. We love the unusual, sculpted teak base!

Three adjustable shelves. Each shelf has a plate/art groove along the back of one side and is smooth on the other: install as desired. This piece is in truly excellent condition with only the most minimal signs of age-appropriate wear. There is a tiny chip on the back corner of the left side and an area of slight discoloration on the right side. See photos.

Hvidt & Mølgaard Teak Bookshelf Model 300 - SOLD

February 4, 2017

Danish architects Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen designed a beautiful collection of mix-and-match teak cases for the renowned cabinetmaker Søborg Møbelfabrik in the 1950s.  We are very pleased to offer three pieces from the collection. All of the cases are crafted of solid teak planks (unlike most Danish case goods) in order to create the gorgeous finger-jointed joinery at each corner.

This bookshelf features adjustable shelves that slide on a hidden bracket system. It is in excellent vintage condition with only minor wear. The previous owner had screwed this piece to the wall (without the legs); we have filled the small holes in the back panel from the screws. There is a repaired, minor veneer chip to the top back corner. Please see photos.

35.375" wide x 10.75" deep x 37" tall.
