Beautiful Smaller Danish Teak Credenza - SOLD

October 14, 2016

ON HOLD - We love the details on this smaller-scale mid-century Danish teak credenza! Check out that stunning book-matched veneer on the doors: they even carried it over onto the drawer fronts, not something you usually see. Beautiful recessed drawer and door pulls, beveled case edges, and really cool wedge-shaped, contrasting teak-and-birch legs. It's a beauty!

Excellent vintage condition with light, age-appropriate signs of use including a few vey light rings, small stains, and some flecks of glitter on the top; a few minor dings here and there. One chip on the very back edge of the right side as shown.

The sliding doors on the left reveal one long adjustable shelf. To the right is a bank of four dovetailed drawers. The top drawer is felt-lined for silverware.

Stunning Danish Teak Sideboard / Room Divider - SOLD

September 7, 2016

Wow, this is an amazing piece of furniture! Extremely well-built, tons of storage, and SO cool looking... check out the beautifully carved circular pulls and the solid teak side supports. Completely finished on the back, this can be used as a room divider, too!

The top section features three sliding doors: behind one is a bank of 5 slide-out drawers; the other two house adjustable shelves. In the base, a bank of  dovetailed drawers is flanked by two sliding doors. The left has an adjustable shelf while the right has a hole drilled by the original owner to accommodate electrical cords for media components. Marked with the retailer's brand: Leo Spivack, New York. Spivak imported high-quality Danish furniture in the 1960s.

This piece disassembles for easier transport: the side sections are held on with brass fasteners and pegs.

This piece is in overall excellent vintage condition with some signs of wear including: light scratches on the left base door, tiny chips on base bottom edge, light scratches and small stains on the serving surface, 3 scratches on the right side. The lower drawers have some staining (it looks like art supplies were stored there) and some veneer chips on the inner top edge of the drawers, not visible when drawer is shut. Please see detail photos.

Danish Teak Credenza with disappearing Tambour doors by Dyrlund - SOLD

August 11, 2016

So much storage in this vintage Danish teak sideboard! The beautiful disappearing tambour doors open to reveal 3 adjustable shelves and a bank of five lovely finger-jointed drawers (top drawer is felt-lined for silverware.). Notice the soft, rounded edges and curved face frame on the case. This is a substantial piece of furniture! Made by the well-known Danish furnituremaker Dyrlund.

This piece was originally part of a 2-piece set with a hutch top. We are offering the pieces for sale separately or together. Last picture shows the two together.

In very good vintage condition with age-appropriate signs of use, especially to the top:  some scratches, a very light ring, and lighter areas where the hutch top stood for years. The bottom drawer binds slightly. Otherwise in terrific condition!

Beautiful c. 1960 Danish Teak Credenza - SOLD

This lovely piece has a terrific story: it was part of a dowry for a European wedding in 1960. The original owner gave us a copy of the bill of sale from Copenhagen, Denmark.

A handsome piece with sliding doors featuring circular pulls and a bank of drawers (top two are felt-lined for silverware.)

In very good vintage condition with age-appropriate signs of use: some areas of slight discoloration and a few scratches on the top, two veneer chips on drawers, staining in bottom two drawers from candle storage. See detail photos. The middle shelf is missing at present, a new teak shelf is being made.

Rare and lovely teak credenza by Povl Dinesen attributed to Arne Vodder - SOLD

July 22, 2016

This beautifully elegant tall sideboard was made and/or marketed by Povl Dinesen, fine cabinetmakers in Copenhagen, Denmark in the 1950s and 60s. It is attributed to the acclaimed Danish designer Arne Vodder. This piece has amazing details such as the full-height hand-carved center door pulls, the very unusual side door pulls that are cut into the cabinet case, and the horizontal stretcher bar that is carved and sculpted like a mobius strip: vertically thin to horizontally thin and back again... fantastic!

The four sliding doors open to reveal a beautiful contrasting birch interior with copious storage. The left section has two adjustable felt-lined silverware drawers and two deeper drawers below. More shelving is to the center and right.

This piece is marked well below its normal value due to the stains on the top. It is otherwise in excellent vintage condition with age-appropriate and minor scratches and dings. Despite the stains, this is a beautiful piece.

Low Profile Danish Teak Credenza or TV Stand - SOLD

July 2, 2016

Low profile, stylish Danish design with lots of storage! Lower than a typical sideboard, this would be a perfect spot for your flat-screen TV. Circa 1970s teak veneer credenza features sliding doors with shelves inside and 5 dovetailed drawers.

Good used vintage condition with the following to note: some scratches and light discoloration on top. Top right has an area of old water damage that raised the veneer a bit; this can be felt more than seen. One drawer has interior stains and several drawers bind a bit but are still totally usable.

Rare Arne Vodder "No. 54" Tambour Door Highboard for Sibast 1959 - SOLD

June 11, 2016

This very rare teak credenza or "highboard" just came over from Denmark this winter, and is a superb example by renowned Danish designer Arne Vodder for the high-end cabinetmaker Sibast. Uncommon in the United States, highboards were an integral part of Danish interiors in the 1960s. In typical Scandinavian fashion, a whole lot of usefulness and style is packed into one piece of furniture. This piece features elegant tambour doors that disappear completely into the sides when opened, Vodder's signature contrasting oak base, and truly outstanding handmade details and craftsmanship. This piece was crafted by hand by the best cabinetmakers in Denmark in the 1950s. This piece will certainly last for many more generations and increase in value.

The beautiful contrasting birch interior features 3 sliding felt-lined drawers and 5 adjustable shelves. Below are four locking drawers with original key. Faint Sibast "No. 54" stamp can just be made out on reverse. This piece is in excellent vintage condition with the following to note: small chip on edge of left door; one ring on the top (because the piece is so high, this is not as noticeable as it would be on a low sideboard) ; interior shelving has some light stains and some shelf pegs were broken off in the holes, limiting shelf placement somewhat.
